The Running Of The Bulls- Rollergirl Style

Weight: 141.8 lb
Yesterday: 140.8

Round 2 P4 Day 33

One pound up. Ok. If I go over 142.0 tomorrow I will do another cheese/apple day.

I have the San Fermin in Nueva Orleans 2010 Running of the Bulls coming up next weekend.

I'm getting excited about it. I'll try to get lots of pictures.

I thought about doing my loading days on the 2 days I'll be in New Orleans but I gain weight so much that I'm scared I'll gain 20 pounds or something. I might not mess with it. Correct when I get home and then start Round 3. Any suggestions?

Results from Cheese/Apple

Today's Weight: 140.8 lbs
Yesterday's Weight: 142.8 lbs
Difference: -2.0 lbs

Round 2 Phase 4 Day 32

Hurray! I actually exercised and didn't gain tons of weight. Thank you all for your suggestions. The cheese/apple days seemed to be more effective for me. I think the fact you can eat 3 meals is key for me on days that I'm going to be skating. The hunger can really overtake me. I also have to mellow out on the nuts. I NEVER LOVED nuts prior to HCG. Cashews were yummy but I never ate a walnut. Now I crave for walnuts and pecans like if they were cheesecake! Especially now that I can't drink/eat milk to do the lactose. It's weird what ends up happening after doing HCG. Things you never knew about your body.

Extra skin. After you lose weight you end up having the extra skin problem. After the first round I was sure the skin would never go back in and I'd be left with flaps. I have to admit, after a lot of Lubriderm, the skin is receding back in place. Does anyone have any suggestions or products they use to minimize stretch marks and skin bunching?

Survived the Apples and 4 hours of exercise!

My aunt Insanity visits me sometimes and someone how convinces me that I should do stuff that I would never do without Aunties insistence. Doing 2.5 hours of non-stop roller derby and then drive myself from the skating rink right to my outdoor physical fitness bootcamp for another 1.5 hrs! 4 crazy hours of non-stop exercise. I'm sure I'll gain weight tomorrow morning. We'll see how it goes. I'm going to drink more water now.

Cheese and Apple Day #2

Cheese and Apple Day #2
Yesterday I did another cheese and apple day but didn't lose much. I ended up eating more than 2.0 oz of cheese for dinner, more like 4 oz and some sesame almond flour crackers (home made of course) at 11 pm. We had a roller derby bout last night (I didn't play I just watched) and I didn't get home until late. By then I was a bit hunger and had a pretty big hunger headache. I also went swimming with the kids yesterday. Regardless I'm happy I'm not sure if I'll do another cheese and apple day today to get those .8lb down within the new 2 lb goal. I might just do an apple cheese day but add 1/2 of a serving of another fruit like banana (lots of carbs I know) but I have an additional roller derby practice today. I'm going to make an attempt to track my calories today.

Much Success with Cheese and Apples

Today's weight: 143.0 lbs
Yesterday's Weight: 146.0

Thank you for the suggestion, It's much better than doing steak day. I'm not feeling like I'm starving all day. I did another cheese and apple day today also but had a few almond flour crackers with my cheese this evening. I did skate this morning and I did take the children to the pool. We'll see what happens. :)

Elana's Cucumber Salad

I have to admit, I love Elana's Pantry website. I wanted to share this cucumber salad. The picture is from her site:

Oh yeah, I expected that. I found myself yelling at my scale this morning! "Oh yeah, one pound for 1.5 TBS of presoaked SCD black beans! JUST ONE POUND?!" I think I"m going a bit nutty.... oh nuts... yum.

I'm going to do a steak day today. My liver has rested. Helderheid suggested a website where people had success with apples and cheese day:

Have you tried a cheese and apple day? People have had GREAT results losing. Eat three meals. Each meal consists of 2 apples and 2 ounces of cheese. Drink lots of water.

Info from HealthMad.com:
The results from the Apple & Cheese day are consistently higher than the Steak Day.  Eating throughout the day, rather than skipping both breakfast and lunch, is much more satisfying, over all.
Theory
Eating apples and cheese should do the same thing as a Steak Day or a Steak and Cheese Day, but without the cost of the steak.
Test Parameters
Eat three meals.  Each meal consists of 2 apples and 2 ounces of cheese.  Drink lots of water.
Results
3.2# loss for myself.  Weight release ranges between 2 to 4 pounds, for each of the people testing with me.
Conclusions
Eating apples and cheese consistently produces results better than a Steak Day or a Steak and Cheese Day, but without the cost of the steak.

Anything is better than more steak. I don't have the apples for today but will go to Cosco and buy some.

As soon as I go down a few pounds I'm going to take a break from weighing myself. What happens happens and I'm stressing out so much about it that I'm sure that's going to make me gain another few pounds. It's ok I keep telling myself. I'm ok.

I have to go find a "bout fit" which is a roller derby outfit for tomorrow's big game. What I love about derby is that being skinny isn't a requirement for being sexy. Hurray for derby!

145.0 lbs and Rising

Today's Weight: 145.0

Round 2 Phase 4 Day 27

What is there to say? I didn't want to keep on doing steak day after steak day after steak day. Exercising is not my friend on Dr. S's diet. I still do roller derby or skate almost every other day and continue to do boot camp on the days I don't. I'm hungry, take diet pills and really don't have carbs. Though I was super naughty today and ate 1.5 TBS of black beans that had been soaked in water for 24 hours to make them easier to digest. Oooooooo, black beans! I'm sure I'll gain 2 pounds from that.

I'm frustrated because I gain so much weight so easy. I don't think Dr. S had the intention of keeping people on steak days every day. I was going to do another steak day today after 2 day break of steaks but I was done. I'm getting so stressed out about it. I need to find something that I can do without driving myself crazy but keep my weight down but be able to live a healthy derby life (until I break a bone or tear a ligament). LOL

My mom is 65+ years old and she is keeping the weight off just find after her first round of HCG. She doesn't exercise. She has been able to hold her weight within the 2 pounds. She has mobility problems so it's wonderful that she has been able to not only lose the weight, eat what she wants, AND eat until she is full without gaining any weight. She still has about 60 pounds to lose to be within her weight range but says she only wants to lose 20 more. At her age and mobility level I think any loss is wonderful. She did HCG injections back in the 1970's and it worked for her.

So all of you that have been able to lose weight and keep it off while on HCG, keep going. Don't give up. I won't either, even if I can't lose it or keep it off. I think it's well worth a try and a great learning experience.

I might do a steak day tomorrow, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sick and tired of steak!

Short Lived Sucess

Yesterday's Weight (after steak day): 141. 8 lbs! I was happy with that! But today's weight isn't so wonderful. We took the kids to 6 Flags yesterday and I had 1 pickle, a diet coke, 5 pop corn kernels, a couple of spoonfuls of apple sauce. At 10pm we finally got to sit and eat and I ate a cup of tomato soup and shrip wraps in raw cabbage. I didn't think it was too bad. When I woke up this morning my feet were swollen and I was exhausted. All that walking around in the sun. I didn't do a steak day today just because I'm sick of it. I'm really sick of starving all day and then stuffing myself with steak. So I skipped breakfast, ate small pieces of steak in a lettuce wrap with vinegar/oil. I ate my homemade yogurt with flax and pecans/walnuts for snack. I ate the rest of the steak for dinner. I'm going to go get some cheese too. That's all I could do. I did my best. We'll see what it gives me tomorrow.

Yesterday's Weight: 141.8
Today's Weight: 144.8
Difference +3.0

I skated a lot in roller derby tonight so we'll see what happens with that in regards of water retention.

Steak Day Today

Today's Weight: 144.8
Yesterday: 145.2 lbs
Loss: -.4

Hey I'm not complaining! Anything is better than nothing or worse a gain. I did another steak day today. I didn't get much out of an egg day yesterday though at night I did get so hungry I had to go get some pecans. Not many but it's so late at night that I"m sure that affects it.

This morning I went to roller derby practice for 1.5 hours though it wasn't a lot of non stop skating. I was able to do a steak day without too much need to munch on extra bits of food due to dizziness. I did eat a few pieces of 85% dark chocolate. I've noticed if I eat a couple of pieces of dark chocolate throughout the day it will keep me from craving the nuts too much or want to eat anything else. I notice it maintains my blood sugar ok too. After eating the steak at 6pm tonight I was craving some pecans again though and I was craving some yogurt. I really crave yogurt or milk too. I think it's the calcium. I'm going to take what I lose tomorrow and leave it at that. I don't think I can do another full protein day without my liver going a bit nuts... nuts? Yum. I mean without my liver giving me a difficult time. We'll see.

Steak Day Summary

Today's Weight: 145.2 lbs
Light TOM (Can't it just go away!?)
Yesterday's Weight: 147.2 lbs
Difference: -2.0 lbs

Round 2 Phase 4 Day 22
LIW: 136.6 lbs

I lost 2 pounds from steak day yesterday. I had to add an apple yesterday and a few bites of peanut butter though. I ate two poached eggs in the morning also so it's not too bad. I'm just freaking out seeing the weight be so high. I was really hungry last night and ate a cup of my homemade yogurt.

Today I'm doing a modified egg day. I say modified because I start turning yellow if I only eat protein. I'm a bit jaundice today but just a tad. I ate 2 poached eggs this morning, an apple for snack, 2 poached eggs for lunch, 1 tsp of peanut butter, and planning on a couple of eggs for dinner. I don't know if I can do another steak tonight. I'm actually getting a bit overwhelmed of steak. I might stick with the eggs.

I was talking to a fellow derby girl who is now on her second round of oral homeopathic HCG. She said she's been a bit more hungry also this round and she felt weak during her first round while in roller derby. She is actually one of the founding members of our league and is totally awesome. She said she felt as derby was kicking her butt and if it hadn't been for knowing someone else who was able to live through derby AND HCG she would have quit skating. She said she felt faint at times and wobbly (given we are on skates). She said she also felt she didn't hit as hard. I don't know how hard she hit before HCG as she has always showed mercy on me on the rink and usually pushes me off the track vs. whacking the crap out of me. I find comfort just in seeing her during derby practice as being an HCG dieter is sort of lonely. I'm glad we have the blogs and that really does help. Having a live person around is great though as I know if I pass out she'll be able to tell EMS paramedics I'm on HCG. LOL. I think of these things you know.

Huge Gain

Today's Weight: 147.2
TOM
Yesterday's Weight: 141.8 lbs
Daily Difference: +5.4 lbs

Yes ladies, I am impressive aren't I? I can gain 5.5 lbs in ONE night! I nearly fell off the scale this morning.
Summary of the week:

Sat 6/12: 142.2 Light TOM
Sun 6/13: 143.0 Light TOM, but did STEAK Day
Mon 6/14: No TOM, 141.0 lbs
Tues: 141.4
Wed: 143.0 TOM Back, STEAK DAY
Thur 6/17: TOM 141.8 lbs

So what did I do last night? I decided I needed a free night. I've noticed a lot of HCG will take one free day a week or month or whatever. I took one for myself last night. AFTER 6 MONTHS! I haven't had a potato for half a year. In R2P4 I haven't been able to eat more than 2 tortilla chips without gaining. I'm had at most 2 TBS of wild rice. I gain, have a steak day, try again, gain, steak day, so on. So I talked myself into it last night. I deserved it I told myself. I went to Pluckers with my husband and I:

-sipped off his beer (not gluten free but what the hell)
-had 1 Mexican Martini
-3 slices of fried pickles
-3 chicken wings (I could have put down 12 before diet).
-8 or 10 waffle fries

Then we went to Viva Chocolate and I had a hot chocolate and nibbled off some of his chocolate mousse.

These two items were tiny by the way since it was at a little chocolate fancy boutique.

I've had such a difficult time with this round. It's seems like it's a total failure. I'm up almost 100% of the weight I had lost. Today I am up 11 pounds (est) from my last injection weight. I just wanted one evening where I could eat something I wanted to eat. I've been so hungry! I've taken diet pills to curve my appetite the entire time I've been doing HCG. I tried not to do it this second round but I was starving. I started taking my thyroid medications but they haven't really helped. Today I am doing a steak day but haven't been able to do it totally clean. I could feel my sugar dropping this morning so I had 2 poached eggs. A few hours later I was getting dizzy and light headed again so I stuck a knife into some organic peanut butter (only ingredient is peanuts) and licked it (twice).  So far it's been a few hours and one more diet pill. So far I'm ok. It's near 3pm. I'm about to take the kids roller skating for a few hours and have speed skate training for an hour tonight. Then I can come home and eat my steak. NOT at 6p though. It will be near 8pm. That's a killer for me. I can't keep Dr. S's recommended eating times. I just can't.

It did cross my mind that I wasn't eating enough (of the foods allowed of course). I tried eating until satisfied for 48 hours and ended up with a big o'l gain and never lost the weight. I dropped down to taking diet pills and limited my amount of food and that usually does the trick. I start eating a bit more or forget to take the diet pills and I end up having a +2.0 gain and have to do a steak day. So I've tried eating, ain't gonna happen.

Exercise still makes me gain. I think water retention is a big factor. If I was a walker I think it would be better. Roller derby and outdoor bootcamps aren't beacons of weight loss for me. The worst part is I hate working out. I hate exercising. I do it because I have to get in shape to apply for the jobs that I want. If I had my choice I would walk 20 minutes a day 3x a week and leave it at that.

I'm really disappointed and hope to see some of the weight off tomorrow morning. I haven't sat on my bathroom floor and started crying yet. I'm sure that's coming though.

Round 2 Phase 4

I'm sick. I have strep throat. Nasty bug. Yesterday I ate clean but ate late. I was starving after coming home from 1.5 hours of outdoor boot camp. My thighs were killing me. Just in wall squats we did 150, ball throw squats 60, scissors with a 6 lbs medicine ball were 150 (it's like an ab crunch but you're throwing a 6 lb medicine ball to your partner when your coming up on the crunch, and swinging your leg down each time you come up). I lost count of the lunges (with 15 lb kettle bells). I stopped counting around 60. That doesn't include the running. I hate running laps in between exercises. YUCK. My knees were already knocking due to roller derby on Wed. I did 24 derby lapse in 5 minutes. I was dying. Coughing like if I'd been smoking for a decade. I might have been the strep creeping up on me cuz it got nasty after the 8th lap, laps 13-20 were a blur. So needless to say, I came home and ate dinner. I ate a salad with avocado, carrots, mushroom, and tomatoes. I used the homemade yogurt and added lemon to it for a dressing. I made some grilled chicken with fajita fixings (onions/peppers).  It was yummy but this morning I hadn't lost any weight but almost gained a half pound. I didn't know what to do today. Another steak day? Egg day? Ug! I ended up having amaranth/quinoa/corn cereal with bananas and Mootopia milk. I had I tried snacking on boiled eggs and cheese if I got hungry before lunch and dinner. I t couldn't get myself together for an entire meal. Just yogurt w/ apples. And a few tablespoons of almond butter. I'm expecting the almond butter to show it's ugly face tomorrow morning on the scale. I'll try to eat better tomorrow to get to the 140 I was ok with staying at.

Drink water everyone! Don't forget to drink water. I've been hearing alot in the news regarding water and weight loss! So keep drinking!

Fat Food Snob

Today's Weight: 143.2 lbs
Yesterday's Weight: 143.0 lbs
Difference: +.2lbs

LIW Difference: +6.4 lbs

Round 2 Phase 4

It's impossible to maintain my weight some times. Ok, most of the time. Today I am doing the eggs for breakfast though I did have some of my homemade yogurt with flax/chai/pecans. I took my super duper diet pill to ward off the hunger and I'm going to try to do a steak for dinner. No sugar for me today. I'm really bothered by those 3.2 lbs. I was really upset about the previous 4 lbs but these last 3 are killing me! I haven't really incorporated a lot of carbs/sugar yet. I still have attempted only to take TBS worth of things. I've eaten 3 bites of a banana. I ate some amaranth/quinoa/corn cereal one morning with Mootopia milk. I mean, come on?! My waist line is getting bigger too and so are my arms. Not muscle either. I keep telling myself it's ok. It's ok. I still don't weigh 172 which is what I weighed after I started roller derby. Exercise is always a killer for me. If I sat and did nothing on the couch all day I'd probably lose weight. But the reason I wanted to lose the weight was to be able to do all this physical fitness stuff, train for my upcoming jobs, and play roller derby without reaching 200 lbs! I broke down this morning and took my thyroid medication. I want to see if I can get my hair to stop falling out and my skin to get less dry. Oh and all the hairs on my chin are not cute! WTF?!

But I'm sure it's all in diet and portion control for me. I don't crave broccoli or green beans. I don't want to stuff my mouth with kale! Before I wanted to eat bread and chips. Rice or couscous. After HCG it's almond bread or almond butter, a hand full of pecans, or cheese. I crave that Mootopia milk too! Cereal. Even weird organic funky grain cereal. I have friends that stop by every now and then and they call me a "hippie" or a "food snob" and say my refrigerator smells funny without preserved food. I have kelp noodles in my fridge! What has become of me?!!??!! And I still gain weight. My family loses it. I gain it. Not fair. I bought my hubby tons of bread... white bread... told him to knock himself out. Bought him a huge block of butter too (organic butter of course) and told him to eat it!!! If I see him lose another pound and reach my weight being 6.0 ft tall I'm going to lose it. He's 6 ft, 10% fat, 148 lbs. Before I did HCG he was 13% muscle and 163 lbs. I'm 32 % fat.  My metabolic age is like 40 (it use to be 50). My husband's is 19. I have to DRAG him to work out with me at boot camp! Ug! Yes, I know it's genetics. But it's still not fair. I still can throw a tantrum! LOL

TOM hasn't shown up yet but I'm expecting him any moment. Hence the ranting and raving. Though no... not really... I would rant and rave regardless.

It's 10:30 pm and I'm finally coming to bed. Very exhausted. I just skated for 3.5 hours. We did a timed test on how many laps we can do in 5 minutes, I only got 24 laps. My goal was 28 laps. I came home and ate my steak and some cheese. We will see if I see the benefits tomorrow morning or if the water retention for the exercising is going to throw that off. If I'm not down tomorrow I'm going to do a full on steak day. Can't I do an apple day? Has that worked for some?

TOM? Ice Cream? Boot Camp?

Today's Weight: 143.0 lbs
Yesterday's Weight: 141.2 lbs
Difference: +1.8 lbs

LIW Difference: +6.4 lbs

Round 2 Phase 4

Last night I had another fun filled evening at a physical fitness boot camp. We worked our abs. We did about 175-200 ab exercises with a medicine ball (including 150 crunches) so I'm not too surprised my weight is up this morning. That's why I'm not going to do a steak correction day. Though in retrospect maybe I should have done a modified steak day or an egg day. My ankles are swollen and I think I'm retaining water. I'm cramping also but I'm wondering if it's PTOM. I'm hungry. More than usual. And I'm having cravings. I'm tired and my nose is stuffed up. Yup, that sounds like pre TOM. Oh and the wonderful headache of course. I was dumb enough to eat a few spoonfuls of ice cream since my skinny butt husband sneaks it into the house. Along with cakes. I've been super good so far and not eaten ANYTHING he has brought but I wanted some ice cream and ate some. Big mistake. I still haven't assimilated my new dairy allergy into my life as well as I wanted to and I still forget what things have dairy in them. Duh?! Ice cream! Come on! That's a no brainer. So now I have TOM cramps and dairy cramps.

I was reading My Non Mainstream Weight loss and Fitness Journey on Blogger: http://hcgjournal-trudi.blogspot.com/. She seems to be having issues with her thyroid and maintaining also. She figured out she has issues with low body temperatures (Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome) and I know I always run low on my body temperatures. I took T3 supplements but not the extended release kind which is recommended. My doctors are very helpful when it comes to writing scripts but not to trouble shooting. I go in, ask for what I need, they write it out. So if I don't have a clue, they don't have a clue. I'm tempted to start taking the T3 supplements again but am unsure about it. To get a pharmacist to compound an extended release of my T3 script is expensive. I've compounded drugs before in the past at the vet clinic's office. I wonder if I can compound it myself? :)) LOL Hey, it's a thought.

Ok, no more ice cream for me. I'll try to get my husband to take some pictures so I can show you all what I have to show for all this work. But really I don't think you can tell a huge amount. I don't post the pictures or too much personal information due to employers. It's a condition of employment to provide them all your emails/blogs/personal web pages. I don't feel like having a future employer like a police department (I'm applying for police jobs) reading about my menstrual cycles or seeing pictures of me. With that said, I'll probably just disable the blog when they are doing background checks. If I remember right they asked what your current blog pages not past ones. ;)

Austin Pride Parade 2010

Today's Weight: 141.2 lbs
Yesterday's Weight: Unknown, I decided not to weigh myself.

Round 2 Phase 4 Day 9

Last night I actually marched... skated... in my first parade. My husband and kids marched also. They got to ride in a fire truck as part of the Austin Police Department and Fire Department. I rolled with the Texas Rollergirls. In front of 45,000 people. I didn't even fall! It was overwhelming to say the least but I'm glad we were there to support the gay and lesbian community as yesterday was the first day the City of Austin officially backed the event.

I ate my first all natural mango ice pop. Hopefully I skated it off. It didn't really show up on the scale this morning. It was difficult not to eat all the junk food at the parade or at the after dinner invites. I was good and kept to my diet though. However I did eat some chocolate the day before which I didn't notice had some milk in it and I paid for it dearly. So today I ate some DARK 80% chocolate. :)) I'm sure that will end up showing up on the scale tomorrow morning but I REALLY wanted to eat it and strangely enough I haven't craved nuts today.

I think my problem is always portion control. I eat too much food. When I'm hungry, I eat. I'm hoping that a few more round of HCG will help me control that hunger. I also eat late. I have exercise and derby usually at night and when I come home I'm super hungry. I wish the schedule were different but I can't get around it. If I were to eat before boot camp or derby practice I would surely vomit. Ug! And again, that's great if exercise works for some but it doesn't work for me (as far as losing weight). Eating the right foods ain't the magical antidote either. My husband is under 150 lbs now due to the "right food" I have in the house. He is getting so thin I actually bought him chips and bread. I really hate that. It's so NOT fair. And I hate hearing those health nuts (nuts? Yum) talking about "fat people" just needing to know how to eat right and get off the couches. Oh that makes me mad.

I'm not a size 4 now but a size 6. Oh well. I can totally see how I could use to lose another 25 pounds for sure. I once that that would be too thin to be in my recommended weight for my height but not any more. You would think a size 6 is thin but no. The weight is on my arms and back. It's odd looking. One step at a time. And it's not about the size it's about the health right?! I keep telling myself to overlook all the 'weight' stuff and focus on the bigger health picture. But it's tough. Even though P2 and P3 are difficult and I can't say I look forward to another P2 round I am eager to see how much weight I can lose. I try not to but it's near impossible. I think all of us shouldn't beat ourselves up for our weight but society is so quick to give you positive reinforcement for your size. "Oh you look like you've lost weight you look great".

Ok, I'm done bitching. I'm going to try to catch up on all ya'lls blogs today! Thanks for the support and for reading. This wouldn't be as much fun without all of you bloggers/readers out there!

Round 2 Phase 4 Day 5

Today I'm doing a steak day. I went back to my physical fitness boot camp last night. 1.5 hours of crunches, squats and push ups. Of course, this morning I wake up and I'm up two pounds. Water weight? I don't know. I just get so frustrated because I haven't eaten foods not in the protocol in P3 and P4. Nothing! Everything has been homemade. I limit the use of the microwave. I exercise. Absolutely no gluten products and I still haven't introduced big quantities of carbs. So far I've been eating TBSs worth of carbs. I haven't even eaten a banana yet and I only tried the homemade ice cream that had zero added sugar. Every time I try to eat something with milk it sends my stomach into a cramping frenzy so my dairy intake has been limited to near zero. I still keep gaining weight. It's not muscle trust me. My liver is doing much better though. My thyroid isn't. I haven't taken my thyroid medications yet but I might just have to. I'm still tired, my skin is dry and my hair is falling out more than usual. I'm not going to quit the diet though. I just can't. What am I suppose to go back to? I was eating pretty well without the diet and eventually I'll have to do more rounds just to get to the weight I was at my last injection dose. Ug! I'm so angry! I'm going to go pout now. Oh yeah and get ready for 1.5 hours of non stop skating for my roller derby practice that's only going to make me gain more weight for tomorrow! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!
